F27 Do Items

Do Items List for F27 Copilots

The items mentioned in this Do List for F27 Copilots should be carried out before calling out the relevant checklist.

1. External (Ground Power Unit) Start

Preparation: Mostly done while preparing the cockpit however check,

  • Inverters - ON

  • Radios / Radar - ON and Standby

Before Start:

  • Take-Off Data and Bugs

  • Start Up Clearance from ATC

  • Cabin Report from Cabin Crew

  • Ground Blower - OFF

  • Windows and Doors - Closed and Locked

  • Booster Pumps - One ON each engine

After Start:

  • Generators ON - Battery ON (on some aircraft you are required to do this once the external ground power unit is removed)

  • DC Voltage - Check

  • Taxi Clearance from ATC

  • Ground Clearance from Ground Crew


2. Internal (Battery) Start

Preparation:

  • Circuit Breakers - Reds OUT others IN

  • Radios / Radar - OFF

Before Start:

  • Take-Off Data and Bugs

  • Start Up Clearance from ATC

  • Cabin Report from Cabin Crew

  • Spill Valves - Open

  • Windows and Doors - Closed and Locked

  • Booster Pump # 2 Engine - One ON

  • DC Power Switch on Battery - Check Voltage

  • Inverter - ON

After Starting # 2 Engine:

  • Generator # 2 - ON

  • Power Lever # 2 - 10,000 RPM

  • Spill Valve # 2 - Normal

  • Radio Master - ON

  • VHF Com # 1 - ON

  • Feather Button Lights and Fire Warning - Check

  • Prop Lights - 5 ON and 3 Tested

  • Start up clearance from ATC

  • Gen # 2 - OFF

  • Booster Pump # 1 Engine - One ON

After Start:

  • Generators ON, Battery ON

  • DC Voltage - Check

  • Radios / Radar - ON and Standby

  • Circuit Breakers - All IN

  • Spill Valve # 1 - Normal

  • Taxi Clearance from ATC

  • Ground Clearance from Ground Crew


3. Taxi

  • DME - ON

  • Wind Shield Heat - ON

  • Powerunit Anti Icing - If Required

  • Fuel Heater - If Required

  • Cross Feed - ON (for first flight of the day only)

  • Flaps - If Required


4. Before Take-Off

  • Take-Off clearance from ATC

  • Booster Pumps - All ON

  • Pitot Heat - ON

  • Water Methanol - ON (if required)

  • Transponder - ON


5. After Take-Off

  • Water Methanol - OFF


6. 3000 Feet AGL

  • Booster Pumps - One OFF each engine

  • Pressurization - Check for the following:

    Rate of Climb

    Cabin Height

    Differential Pressure


7. Descent

As soon as in VHF Contact:

  • Get Destination Weather

  • Make Landing Data Card

  • Set Landing Speed Bugs

  • Carry Out Approach Briefing

15 nm before TOD:

  • Descent Clearance from ATC

  • Pressurization - Set

10 nm before TOD:

  • Fuel Quantity - Check

  • Carry Out Descent Checklist


8. Approach

  • Booster Pumps - All ON

  • Fuel Heaters - ON (if required)

  • Lights, Flaps and Fuel Trimmers as per requirement


9. Final Landing

  • Water Methanol - ON

  • Fuel Heater - OFF


10. After Landing

  • Tansponder - OFF

  • Landing Lights - OFF

  • All Radios and Nav Aids - OFF (Except VHF COM Radios)

  • Cockpit Heater - OFF

  • Powerunit Deicing - OFF

  • Wind Shield Heat - OFF

  • Booster Pumps - One OFF each engine

  • Pitot Heat - OFF

  • Water Methanol - OFF

  • Radar - OFF

  • Trim Tabs - Neutral

  • Flaps - UP


11. Parking

  • Fire Warning - Check

  • Booster Pumps - OFF
