At an elevation of 1454 meter lies the Gilgit valley, offers spectacular scenic beauty. It is surrounded by lakes, rivers, glaciers and high mountains ranges. Gilgit city is one of the two major hubs for all mountaineering expeditions in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. Phandar is about 177 kms away from Gilgit and the time required to get there is about 8 hours. This picturesque area has a lake which abounds in trout.
